SCL146 - blue
We are proud to say that we have once again worked with Glen Clyde to bring a new collaborative Sock Club London & CHUP Socks collection for AW16.
For this second round, the CHUP Sock design we have chosen to work with is LEDAS.
Inspired by the hand-knitting patterns that have been passed down through the generations in Lithuania and Latvia. LEDAS means ‘ice’ in Lithuanian.
Sock Club London has applied its design imprint through the use of the thread colours that make up each sock. Inspiration has been taken from the MA-1 Bomber Jacket, which was first developed in the mid 1950’s for the American Military. A blue Ma-1 was the original colour used by the military. We have taken the blue from the outer, orange from the lining, added in a lighter pale blue to lift the design and lastly red for the flight tag as seen on some versions. Coming together to form a truly impressive and premium sock.
CHUP socks are manufactured on a low gauge stocking frame machine, a very rare find in Japan. With the intricate designs of each pair of CHUP socks, the production efficiency compared to a general machine is limited. One machine can only produce from 20-25 pairs a day on average.
The socks are a medium weight and each pair features an organic cotton body, hand linked toe for superior comfort and Japanese craftsmanship.
